Two months into Korea

So, I've been in Korea now for two whole months.  It seems slightly surreal.  At times I feel that it hasn't been hardly any time at all, and at other times I feel I've been here for drastically too much time.  It all depends, of course, on how I'm feeling at the time.  For the most part, I am alright.

I actually did get sick, but after two weeks it faded out into nothing.  I didn't go to a doctor or anything.  I'm stubborn that way.  Usually I don't go until it's there for over a month in the least.

Mostly I've been watching movies and writing my book.  I just passed 100,000 words in book 2 the other day.  I want 10-35,000 more words before I'm finished so it's comparable to book one (which has 135,000 words currently).  I'm fairly certain that I'll make it.  I have two small scenes and one major one left to do and as always, when I write extra things pop up and surprise me, but are needed and fit in perfectly, so I write them out and that gives me more to work with.

I have been going out more often.  I've learned to get to three places of shopping, movies and foreigner filled bars ;)  I've been very good with my drinking though.  After having my year of alcohol badness, I've learned to control myself and just have a good time now.  It's rather nice, but I don't go out every weekend.

I get a mini vacation this week!  Our summer holiday's are just one week long, but still, it's something!  I get Wed, Thur and Friday off this week, plus the weekend!  I'm going to see Mummy 3 (even though I know I'm going to get irritated at the relationship change between Evy and Rick, which the writers felt they had to include to keep it surprising and new) and might even go out to a beach with a new Korean friend named Julie.  She joined my adult class and wants to learn English a lot, so she and I have been hanging out 1-2 a week.  It's rather nice.

Well, this seems long enough ;)

Ok, wow, it took me awhile to figure out how to post a new weblog on this thing because I apparently don't look to the right.

Seems as if xanga's trying to keep up with face book and myspace an' all the others.

Right, well, I thought I might as well let everyone who doesn't already know that I am in South Korea for a year.  Actually, I've only been here one month, so eleven left to go!  Then I'll return to my sister in California.

If you want to talk though, you should probably email me since I don't get a tone of internet time.  I send out a mass email every two weeks and then I respond to every individual email I get.

It's getting very hot and muggy here - total blahege.  I arrive at work in a sheen of sweat that quickly starts running down my arms.  I usually have to kleenex my arms, face and neck a couple of times before starting to teach.

Oh, ya, I'm tutoring/teaching English out here.  That's why I'm here.

Well, my adult class is about to start.

My throat kind of hurts - I hope I'm not coming down with anything.

One of the kitlins actually managed to kill a bird the other day and left it in front of the front door for me to find.  They didn't want Mei-mei (sis) to find it though, so they waited until she'd left for work, then deposited their toy.  Poor little thing.

I'm doing a temp job with a couple of part timers in the works while I'm waiting to see if my big job fish come in.  I hate how it can take 2-6 months for the career hiring process to go through :P

I might be seeing someone...  too soon to tell, but I like him.  We have intelligent, civil conversations.

Last night I see something black poke through the cat door and I naturally think it's Braille coming in, but it pulls back out.  Very unusual.  My cats freakin' hate going through their door and would never stick their head in if they weren't going to go all the way through.

So, I go to the door and turn the light on so I can see what's going on.  Serenity's sitting there with a black bird in her mouth.  It's still alive, poor thing.  And Serenity's trying to figure out the best way to get it through the cat flap and wondering if she can.  Once she tries to come back in I hit the glass and she knows she's not allowed to bring it in.  Now we need to take care of the bird.  Sheesh.  My old cat would just bite their heads off and be done with it, but my cats didn't grow up with mice around the house, so they're not exactly trained killers.  More like, inept hunters.

We took care of the bird, oh the fun, and then let Serenity out of my room where we put her to keep her out of the way.  She seemed put out that her toy was missing.

Silly kitties.

Merry Christmas to those that celebrate!!  Merry solstice and season to those that don't ;)

I rather enjoyed the day.  Mei-mei (sis) was supposed to work and unexpectedly got the day off!  Her bf spent the whole day.  Kicked my ass in street fighter, played games, watched movies and made jokes.  He even gave me a present - SNES Zelda baby!  Mei-mei got me a gorgeous shirt, lots of fun little things like fuzzy floss and hard bubbles.  Gave me a new camera (so needed and nice!!!!), Order of the Stick comic book (fan-freakin'-tastic!) and movie School for Scoundrels (funny).  She's so ubermer awesome!  I liked the whole day.  We played poker with our candy and I must admit, I kicked ass.  But I've been good with food lately, so I put most all of it (but the really good stuff) back out on the table and gave it to free for all.

Present to myself - I finished my book!!!  First draft, but done!!  Now I need to go through and fix all the things I can find (which is fun for me now) and start the next while trying to get a publisher for this one.  If anyone can hook me up with an agent, editor or publisher, I'd greatly appreciate it *wink, wink, nudge, nudge*  Oh, that is just so damn exciting!

Hope ya'll doing spiffy, happy and lovely!
